John Westmore and Sugden spent a week in the Enkhousen "Bell Tower," listening to the gypsies play music in the evenings outside their window, and sketching in the countryside during the day.

On the edge of Paris, along the River Siene, Westmore and Sugden drank wine and sketched in the sun. Sugden's best work was after they completed a the bottle of wine.
